Hand Therapy

Hand Therapy is a specialist part of physiotherapy which involves specific skill and training which is required for the treatment of hands.

Hands are a unique part of us and often require individually tailored treatments, ranging from custom moulded splints to specific exercise regimes.

Wound care is also a vitally important part of hand therapy and Mr Rahimtoola's hand therapy team is able to carry out all of these treatments.

Richard qualified as a physiotherapist in 2003 from Coventry University and specialised into the treatment of hands on 2009. He is a British Association of Hand Therapy (BAHT) registered therapist.

Richard leads the hand therapy team at Circle Reading Hospital, providing both post-surgical and non-surgical therapy and rehabilitation.

He has developed his role into that of an Extended Scope Practitioner (ESP) which means he has a greater knowledge an understanding of the use of imagery, such as MRI and xray, injection therapy and surgical interventions.
